Applying makeup Wait times are totally worth it
Applying makeup Wait times are totally worth it
Whether it’s your foundation, liquid blush or your setting powder, before you reach for the next product to achieve your desired look, it’s important to allow each some resting time after application to prevent layers and elements accidentally melting together. We’re all about perfecting that face, so follow the makeup steps below for a flawless makeup look that’s sure to last.

1. Moisturiser

Applying a moisturiser (and one with an SPF) is an important step in any makeup routine as it acts as a barrier against particles that could make their way into your pores. After applying face cream, it’s best to wait about 60 seconds until all of it is absorbed into the skin. Blotting your face with a tissue helps if you’re wanting to speed up the process a bit.

2. Primer

Primers are great for ensuring your foundation goes on smoother. Plus, they’re an effective way of hiding any marks and blemishes on the skin. When applying your primer, we suggest Maybelline’s Baby Skin Pore Eraser. Wait at least 2 minutes, or until the liquid is completely dry, before moving on to the next step.

3. Foundation

For liquid foundation lovers, you’ll need to practice patience when it comes to application. It’s best to let your foundation sit for at least 4 to 5 minutes before reaching for your concealer. If you don’t allow it to dry properly, the foundation will create a layered, cake-like look that’s not as tasty as it sounds. Try L'Oréal Paris Makeup Designer Infallible 24HR Liquid Foundation, which hides the appearance of fatigue and blemishes.

4. Concealer

When applying concealer, make sure to use a makeup sponge rather than your fingers, and tap lightly onto the skin rather than rubbing in. Once you’ve done this, you’ll need to wait up to 3 minutes to allow the liquid to set. We love NYX Professional Makeup Gotcha Covered Concealer with its highly blendable formula that leaves skin with a healthy-looking glow.

5. Blush

Here, we’re talking about liquid blush – the same rules wouldn’t necessarily apply to its powdered counterpart. Because this is the second-to-last step of perfecting your face, you’ll need to allow it a little extra time to dry, so as not to ruin the blush with the setting powder that comes next. Apply your blush and wait 4 to 5 minutes, or until completely dry to the touch.

6. Setting Powder

The last step of the full-face portion of your makeup routine is applying an effective setting powder. These products are ideal for securing everything in place, which ensures that your makeup lasts longer. We recommend Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Powderfrom Maybelline if you’re looking for long-lasting, mattifying shine control and up to 12-hour wear for a natural, poreless-looking finish.

As the saying goes, “Have patience with all things, but, first of all with yourself,” so enjoy time well spent perfecting a makeup look that’s sure to stand out in the crowd.
