Where did draping come from?
Draping may have been the big buzzword a few short years ago, but the truth is it existed long before 2016 – several decades before, actually. Believe it or not, the beauty trend first appeared in the Swinging Sixties and lasted into the Seventies. Its main premise was this: embrace your own inner beauty, instead of copying somebody else’s. This was essentially unheard of at the time.
What is draping anyway?
Fast forward a few decades, and here we are! Draping, as the name somewhat implies, is all about emphasising the natural drape of the face. This can be done by contouring with blush instead of powder to bring out a gorgeous glow.
What products should I use?
All you need is blush really. Your choice of shade, though, depends on what you’re trying to achieve. A darker hue for instance, will give you more definition, whereas a lighter shade will provide a modern finish.
If you’re looking for something to get you started, try the likes of L’Oréal Paris True Match Blush in your preferred hue. The ultra-fine and smooth-to-brush product will allow you to add rich colour wherever you need it. As an added bonus, it’s lightweight too, meaning you’ll never have to worry about whether your skin can breathe or not. The all-in-one Maybelline Master Blush Contour and Highlighting Palette will also put a load of useful draping tools in your hand.
And that’s draping in a nutshell really. Want to learn how to nail the makeup look perfectly? Make sure you ready our handy how-to guide!
