Protruding eyes? Power up your makeup look
Protruding eyes? Power up your makeup look

We all want our eye makeup to pop, but there’s definitely such a thing as too much. If you have protruding eyes, you know exactly what we mean. Eyes that are round and large in appearance can be overpowering, but it’s possible to even things out with a few clever eyeshadow tricks. Today, we’re looking at eye makeup for protruding eyes to bring harmony and balance to your features.

The good thing about protruding eyes

Protruding eyes are big, round and beautiful. It’s actually much simpler to minimise the appearance of large eyes using makeup than it is to try and make small eyes look bigger. There are loads of ladies all over the world who wish they had big eyes! And, if you have protruding eyes, you can rock smoky eye makeup for protruding eyes better than anyone. That’s pretty awesome.

Step-by-step eyeshadow for protruding eyes

1. Apply eye-liner

Apply NYX Professional Makeup Retractable Eye Liner in Black, making the line heavy at the outer corners and tapering to a fine point at the inner corners.

2. Contour with eyeshadow

You want to create an almond shape using a shadow that is darker at the outer corners with light highlights at the inner corners. The eyeshadow on your lids should form a soft cat’s eye that lifts at the corners to elongate your eyes.

We really like NYX Professional Makeup Love You So Mochi Eyeshadow Palette in Sleek and Chic. This neutral eyeshadow palette has 10 gorgeous shades from peach to charcoal - all the colours you need for a smoky eye! Plus, the squishy marshmallow texture of this product is just perfect for blending.

Brush a matte, medium shade to your entire lid, smoking out your eye-liner as you apply. Choose a darker shade and apply to your lash line, creating a V-shape that lifts up towards your outer corners. Finally, choose a dark shade and blend into the V-shape. Apply a little shadow beneath your eye, but very close to your lash line and just at the outer corners.

3. Highlight with eyeshadow

Apply a very light, shimmery shadow to the inner corners of your eyes. This really helps to minimise the protruding eye shape and create the illusion of flatter, oval-shaped eyes.

4. Mascara - and you’re good to go!

Add a coat of your favourite mascara. Or, apply false lashes for a touch of glamour and even more almond-eyed allure!
