Limiting is certainly not a word we’d use when it comes to what you can do with your nails. Heck, nowadays you could accidently spill polish onto your nail bed and some would consider it art. Don’t get us wrong, there have been a few questionable trends (read: coloured pencil nail art) that frankly should have never seen the light of day. But then suddenly, a more simplistic approach arises and we’re all for making the look ours.
While its name could use some work, scribble nails is one of the better trends. Although it’s not exactly considered to be ‘new’ anymore, we decided to embrace it for the start of a new year.
There’s not much too it besides adding a squiggle to your nails. What we love about it though, is the way you can play with the shape, width, pattern and colour to make this look uniquely yours. Here’s how to get it done in just three simple steps:
Apply Essie Grow Stronger Base Coat to prep your nails for the polish. What we love about this product is its ability to strengthen and protect your nails while allowing for a smoother, stronger-feeling finish.
Dip a striping brush into your chosen nail polish, using it to create a scribble across your nail bed. We love Essie Nail Lacquer in Licorice for this step. It’s chip-resistant and leaves your nails looking super shiny!
Finish off the look with Essie Good to Go Top Coat for a perfectly polished manicure with brilliant shine and for colour that sets in seconds.
And yes, that’s all there is to it! Keep in mind these steps will change when you start adding colours to the design, but the process doesn’t get more complicated than this. Happy doodling!
