We all love a classic smoky eye but, let’s face it, while it’s a look that turns heads for night-time, it’s a bit harsh and heavy for every day or at the office. The good news is that the new season brings with it a subtler, softer smoky eye that looks incredible (and appropriate) when worn day or night. Here’s how it’s done.
Begin by using a creamy eyeliner to subtly line and define both the top and lower lashes.
Grab a light, fluffy brush, choose a softer ‘smoky’ shade from your palette (grey, taupe, mauve or satin brown are your best bets) and sweep a small amount across your lids. The glittery Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette or crease-proof Yves Saint Laurent Couture Palette 04 are excellent choices. Blend it well to ensure that there are no harsh lines.
Using your fingertips, dab a tiny bit of white or beige eyeshadow (highlighter also works) onto the corner of your eye to further lighten the look.
Say no to mascara. This eyeshadow style looks so much better without it!
Keep the rest of your face simple with minimal coverage and a nude lip.
Easy, soft, subtle. Girl, you look smokin’!
