It’s the season of love girls, and it doesn’t matter whether you have a Valentine or not. What does matter, is getting into the spirit of celebration with gorgeous Valentine’s nails. We’ve taken inspiration from a red and pink colour palette to bring you our favourite Valentine nail designs that are cute and stylish, but never cheesy.
Valentine French manicure
The reverse French manicure is super-sexy and bang on-trend for Valentine’s Day while remaining sophisticated. Paint your nails using the same technique as you would typically use for a French Manicure, but choose a pale pink base colour and bright red tips. We recommend Essie Nail Polish in Spaghetti Strap and Essie Nail Lacquer in Russian Roulette.
Tri-colour heart design
Looking for cute nail designs for Valentine’s Day? How about Valentine nail art that turns the clichéd heart shape into a striking graphic pattern? For this look, you’ll need nail varnish in three shades of pink, and ring binder stickers to use as stencils. We love the Essie Nail Polish in Exotic Liaris (hot pink), Essie Nail Polish in Love Dovie (medium pink) and Essie Nail Lacquer in Muchi Muchi (pale pink).
Apply hot pink varnish as your base colour. Layer two binder stickers over each other to form a shape that looks like the top of a heart, and gently stick this at the base of your nail to cover the cuticle. Paint the top section of your nail in medium pink and remove the stickers once dry. Repeat for all nails, and then repeat again to apply pale pink varnish to the tips of your nails.
Pink glitter accent
One of the easiest ways to achieve funky and pretty Valentine nails, without going over the top, is to paint your nails a solid colour and choose one nail as an accent nail. Apply two coats of Essie Nail Lacquer in Pink Diamond to all your nails. Dust sparkling pink nail glitter on one nail of each hand. Finish off with Essie No Chips Ahead Top Coat.
However you decide to wear your nails on Valentine’s Day - or any day - top coat is always a must. It seals your colour, prevents chipping and helps your varnish to last longer. A gloss top coat adds lustrous shine and really makes your colour pop. Or, for a silky matte finish, try Essie Matte About You Top Coat.
